Ombudsman’s Office
The Ombudsman’s Office aims to promote trust between University members and to solve conflicts in an informal way. Its purpose is to try to find an amicable solution before a conflict escalates beyond the confines of the University and before legal steps are taken.
The Ombudsman’s Office consists of an Ombudsman (Prof. Dr. iur. Dr. h.c. LL.M. Christoph Leuenberger), a Deputy Ombudswoman (lic. iur. Angela Hensch, certified specialist sba labour law) and the Office Manager (Francesca Tommasi).
If a conflict or a complaint cannot be solved in consultation with the above-mentioned contact points, there is the possibility of taking it to the Ombudsman’s Office. The General Counsel’s Office may also assign conflict cases to the Ombudsman’s Office.
The Ombudsman’s Office is entitled to act on its own account in cases of suspected violations of personal integrity and of applicable law.
The Ombudsman’s Office is autonomous and works on the basis of confidentiality. The Conciliation Committee for Public Employees of the Canton of St.Gallen is not responsible for the university.
